Wars, Battles & Armed Conflicts
Longer essays on campaigns and battles that reshaped Turkic polities—from Talas and Manzikert to Kazan, Panipat, and the Turkish War of Independence.
Wars leave maps and myths. The essays gathered here follow armies, alliances, and aftermaths that mattered for Turkic societies: Karluk choices on the Talas, Seljuk pressure into Anatolia, Mongol uluses that became Turkic-speaking, Ottoman and Timurid campaigns, the fall of Kazan, Babur at Panipat, and the Anatolian struggle of 1919–1923.
Each article is written as a self-contained encyclopedia entry—more narrative than a timeline blurb, with room for disagreement among sources and for what a single battle did not settle. The selection matches the conflicts featured on the Turkion homepage; it is not a complete military history of the Turkic world.
